So Are Negative Calorie Foods Really a Diet?

Do Negative Calorie Foods = Diet?

Negative calorie foods have come under fire for a lot of things, and it brings up a really basic question that maybe even the very title of this blog muddles: are negative calorie foods a diet in and of themselves? The general thought seems to be that negative calorie foods are meant as a diet, and that an eating plan should be composed wholly out of the vegetables and fruits that are included in this list. That said, were they meant that way, or not?

This is a hard question to tackle, because there are so many asterisks to any statement I could make, or a lot of "ifs, ands, or buts." That said, all of these foods are extremely low in calories, have high amounts of water and fiber, and are all seen as great snack foods because of the lack of calories and general healthiness of all these garden samplings. That said, negative calorie foods are not meant to be a diet where they are the only food that anyone ever eats. So in that sense, no, there shouldn't be a "negative calorie foods diet," unless you consider it a temporary crash diet that allows you to lose some weight or get past a plateau before going back onto a far more sustainable eating plan for weight loss.

What a negative calorie food list offers is a list of foods that you will not gain weight from, but that will fill your stomach and provide water, fiber, and some basic vitamins that will help your body function and help supplement any diet or work out schedule. This list of foods is very useful in helping out an eating plan, but use them as a heavy supplement to a diet, not as the end all be all of your new weight loss plan. These foods are like hypnosis for weight loss, they can be a huge help, but they won't be enough alone for permanent positive change.

Negative Calorie Food: The Key to the Diet is the Negative Calorie Foods List

Negative Calorie Foods Calories Negative Negative Calorie Foods List Negative Calorie

Well if you're looking for the truth about negative calorie foods then searching for negative calorie foods and zero calorie diet information online can be really overwhelming. There is so much information online about negative calorie diets, but it can be hard to tell if the negative calorie is a myth, fact, or somewhere in the gray area in between. I'm not a doctor or personal trainer or weight loss expert or anything like that, but I have studied negative calories, and even if I can't give you a full negative calorie foods list I can still probably offer some new information about fiber in negative calories, and about some of the more common questions that many web surfers have about this controversial diet.

Many people want to know about individual vegetables and fruits. I'm not completely sure why someone would want to know about negative calorie celery, since I just can't see how someone could eat lots and lots of negative calorie celery, because there's just not a lot of taste there. Apples with negative calories makes more sense, since at least apples taste good and give you some filling for the stomach. All foods that you're going to find on a negative calorie foods list are going to be either fruits are vegetables. These great diet foods all have high water content, high fiber content, and belong to the fruit/veggie part of the food pyramid. Many of these veggies are loaded up in a vegetable broth for any negative calorie diet soup. This soup is most often found in the cabbage soup diet, or can also be used in a person's independent eating plan based on the negative calorie foods concept.

Finding a full negative calorie foods list isn't easy, often because there are many variations over the list and there are arguments over some of the fruits and vegetables and whether they belong or not. Kiwi and pineapple are examples of fruit found on a negative calorie list, but other sites might choose to leave them off because somehow they just "seem" like they should have actual calories, especially compared to cucumbers, carrots, and celery...all foods that are commonly found on a negative calorie list. Yet if you look at the original lists that come from the original negative calorie diet theory, pineapple and kiwi will be on virtually all of them. That's why I'm not going to have a definitive negative calorie foods list here because it's hard if not impossible to get a complete definitive list.

This diet has taken on an online life of its own, and there are many different points of view on it, but the cabbage soup diet is a version of the negative calorie diet, as are many other types of popular trendy diets. Is there a such thing as a "negative calorie?" Well that's hard to figure out, but there are plenty of people who believe this diet works, and it's hard to argue with that many people swearing by it.

Still, it can be hard outside of this blog to find a good review on the negative calorie foods diet, and any time you hear something like top secret fat loss secret diet review, make sure you can find a review to really tell you a non-marketing opinion on that diet plan. When you can find a review (like the one highlighted two lines up) then you're probably in good shape, but always do your homework with any diet, whether it's that one or negative calorie foods, or any other type.

The Famous Cabbage Soup Diet Thrives on Negative Calorie Foods

The negative calorie foods diet has gotten a lot of flak, as has the concept of negative calorie foods. Bash the marketing all you want, but the end all be all questions should be whether or not this diet causes you to lose weight. And the answer with this diet is a resounding yes. Even better, the ability to eat however much you want, as long as it's from a certain group of foods, which helps for those of us who have big appetites, and whose bodies throw absolute fits at 1,400 calories.

What is amazing to me, is that many will bash negative calorie foods, but then they admit that diets like the famous cabbage soup diet thrive on negative calorie foods. Now with that being said, the cabbage soup diet is not based solely and completely on negative calorie foods, but a huge amount of the weight loss from this diet does come from negative calorie foods.

The cabbage soup diet is a seven day diet that is repeated as often as needed until you lose all the weight you need. The use of negative calorie foods throughout this diet is huge.

Cabbage Soup Diet Soup Recipe Ingredients:

  • 6 large green onions
  • 2 green peppers
  • 1 or 2 cans of tomatoes
  • 3 carrots
  • 1 container (10 oz. or so) Mushrooms
  • 1 bunch celery
  • 1/2 head cabbage
  • 1 package Lipton soup mix
  • 1 or 2 cubes bouillon (optional)
  • 1 48oz can V8 juice (optional)
Season to taste with as much salt, pepper, parsley, garlic powder, cayenne pepper as you want

Green onions, garlic, green pepper, tomatoes, carrotts, celery, and cabbage are all negative calorie foods. Mushrooms are known for having very few calories, and veggie juice is never going to add the pounds. This is the reason you can always eat as much of the soup as you want: because most of the food in it will require you to burn more calories than you take in.

Day 1 of the cabbage soup diet allows you to eat as much fruit (minus bananas) as you want and as much soup as you want. Many fruits are negative calorie foods, so people who love oranges, strawberries, raspberries, pineapple, or kiwi are going to keep eating negative calorie foods.

Day 2 allows for as much cabbage soup as you want with any veggies, minus potatoes. This also means a good portion of food choices will be negative calorie foods.

This means at this point there are two days full of negative calorie foods, and the soup that you can eat an unlimited amount of every single day also are negative calorie foods. While the cabbage soup diet does work off higher metabolisms, and caloric cycling, without the negative calorie foods, this doesn't work.

For the cabbage soup diet to work, they must have negative calorie foods as a crux, which is all the more proof that a negative calorie foods diet can work.

Zero Calorie Diet: Another Name for the Negative Calorie Foods Diet

It's funny to me how there is still a giant controversy over negative calorie foods. The negative calorie foods diet does not make the claim that a food has "negative calories." There's no physical way that a food could contain less than zero since the number definition of nothing is zero. The idea behind the zero calorie diet, a name that is gaining popularity just to ignore the stupid fights that keep coming up from people who take the term "negative calorie foods" literally instead of studying the diet more to see what it actually says, is that you eat low calorie foods that because of their high fiber, digestive enzymes, and low calories result in a deficit.

This deficit is what makes negative calorie foods work. The idea in producing a caloric deficit is that say a piece of celery only has 5 calories, but your body has to burn 25 calories worth of energy to digest it. That results in a loss of -20 calories. That caloric deficit is what makes the zero calorie diet work. This diet isn't based on a large list of food with 0 calories, but on foods that created this deficit to help you lose total calories even as you continue to eat.

All the foods in this diet are either fruits or vegetables, as these are only types of foods that can create a negative caloric effect. Rabbit is close to having this type of an effect if that's all you eat, but it isn't actual starvation that takes back, but a protein imbalance that is unhealthy (but only if rabbit is ALL you eat day after day after day).

There are a lot of searches for recipes for negative calorie foods, and while partial lists of negative calorie foods are pretty easy to search for and find online, figuring out how to work them into a diet with recipes and meals as opposed to just an occasional snack is much more difficult, and that's where the e-book comes in. Not only does the negative calorie foods e-book have recipes for negative calorie foods, but it also explains the negative calorie foods diet, how it works, and how to properly implement it. There are free negative calorie food e-books out there, but the free ones are mostly fluff and teaser.

If you're serious about losing weight with the negative foods diet, then you'll want the e-book that has it all. Negative calorie foods can be easy to add to a regular diet when you know how to actually apply it. Negative calorie foods are meant as a supplemental diet, not a end all be all description of how to eat.

The zero calorie diet uses negative calorie foods to their maximum potential to help you hit your dream weight loss goals.
