Negative Calorie Fruits: More on Negative Calorie Fruit

Fruits with Negative Calories

While there might be more vegetables than fruits listed among the long lists of negative calorie foods, the majority of people I know will definitely prefer to eat a lot of fruit as opposed to a lot of veggies. Fruits tend to be sweeter, taste better, and are more filling than many of their equally healthy but less tasty counterparts. Negative calorie fruit is a huge part of changing your diet to be far healthier, which for many overweight people is enough alone to start really ramping up the weight loss.

While this blog has already made one (well more than one) very specific post on negative calorie fruit, this is a subject that can definitely be hit in more detail. What might surprise you as you read this list is that many of these fruits are also staples of other weight loss plans that tend to be more respected, or at the very least, less controversial, than negative calorie food. This shouldn't be surprising since everyone should know that fruits and vegetables are often the most healthy food you can eat.

Without any further wait, here is a list of negative calorie fruits:

  • Apples
  • Pineapple
  • Cranberries
  • Raspberries
  • Strawberries
  • Papayas
  • Grapefruit
  • Mango
  • Oranges
  • Tangerines
  • Blackberries
  • Blueberries
  • Lemons
  • Limes
  • Watermelon
  • Kiwi
  • Prunes
  • Cantaloupe
You mean apples have negative calories? And pineapple (good time to mention that this blog also has a post on the popular pineapple diet), too? Yes, and yes. At the very least, both of these fruit are on the negative calorie diet list. While I don't know too many people who would eat lemons and limes just because of the negative calories, it's probably very safe to say that there are plenty who would love to eat more strawberries, kiwi, and cantaloupe!

This is a fairly complete list of every single fruit I've seen that is mentioned as negative calorie fruit. Even if you decide not to go on a negative calorie diet, use this list as a great way to simply improve your overall health and your over all diet. From grapefruit to apples to oranges and pineapple, adding these zero calorie fruit to your diet will only help you prosper!

Negative Calorie Foods Aid Weight Loss

Diet Tips

The argument over negative calorie foods is going to continue on rage on, but there's one thing that absolutely can not be argued with: a diet that is very high in the fruit and vegetables on this list is going to help the far majority of people lose weight, and possibly lose weight very quickly. For many dieters who have had bad eating habits for a very long time, it's surprising how much weight is lost just from stopping bad habits: soda (which the carbonation also keeps on bloat and excess water weight), sugars, and fast food are are very bad for a person's health, and for many people just cutting these out and doing nothing else is enough to lose weight.

Now snack constantly on negative calorie fruits & vegetables all day like cucumbers, carrotts, apples, grapefruit, and watermelon and not only are you constantly eating, which keeps the metabolism burning, but you're not feeding yourself any fat and you're not feeding yourself a lot of calories: meaning you're getting full on 200 calories instead of 800. Whether or not negative calorie foods technically create a negative caloric effect or not doesn't really matter because the point is that these foods are extremely healthy, low in calories, but also high in vitamins and fiber that you need to be healthy and full.

So one of the best diet tips would be to tell people to eat more of the foods that are on a negative calorie foods list. In addition, this is obviously a very vegan friendly diet and a good boost for vegetarians, as well.

However this diet isn't for everyone, and if this information just isn't quite what you're looking for, then take a look at this site that has a ton of good information on how to lose weight.

Negative Calories: Vegetarian & Vegan Friendly

Negative Calories Vegetarian Friendly

One of the reasons that negative calorie foods work so well in a diet plan is that they are all foods that could be eaten by both vegetarians or vegans. Because of this, you could accurately refer to the negative calorie diet as a vegetarian diet or even as a vegan diet. This can help explain why the negative caloric effect works: these are all going to be healthy foods that are high in water, high in fiber, low in calories, and almost none of them have any fat. Having a diet filled with these types of foods is a slam dunk way to drop extra weight. Have you ever seen someone get 100 lbs overweight by eating carrots, celery, apples, or other fruits and veggies? Me neither.

The negative calorie food diet is often called a fad diet, and in some ways that might be true, but if a diet is designed to lose weight and it works, wasn't that the point? Negative calorie foods diets were not meant to be a full time weight loss eating plan, but as a crash diet. Negative calorie crash diets are short, usually 10 day, diet plans where all the food you can eat (and it's usually in large or virtually unlimited amounts) is from the list of negative calorie foods, but then after ten days you take at least a week off, eating reasonably to help keep the weight off.

There are many people who slam negative calorie foods, but a lot of this is because of common mis-perceptions, or because of technical arguments over what "negative calorie" actually means and how the negative caloric effect works as opposed to whether or not this diet actually works or not, which should be the only thing that is really heavily important when discussing weight loss plans. And for all the arguments back and forth, there's no argument that if you want to lose weight, that negative calorie diets work. One way to even prove this is that there are tons of knock off diets that are in some way based off the idea of negative calorie foods, or are based around a certain negative calorie fruit or negative calorie vegetable. The pineapple diet and cabbage soup diet are both great examples of this.

Negative calorie foods help dieters lose weight, so if you're looking to drop some weight, then this is the way to go. Besides, just think of all that tasty negative calorie fruit available!

Negative Foods | Negative Calorie Fruits | Negative Calorie Foods Diet

Negative Foods: Negative Calorie Fruits

Our last post was on negative calorie soup, and while that is a good topic, it only begins to scratch the surface of the many foods that make up the negative calorie foods diet. Aside from the great diet soup that can be made from taking advantage of negative calorie foods, there are also plenty of negative calorie vegetables and negative calorie fruits that can be used to really help jump start your diet plan.

Most people are in some way familiar with some of the vegetables that make up the negative calorie foods list. Lettuce, spinach, cabbage, tomatoes (I know they're technically a fruit but tomatoes are always associated more with veggies so here they stay) , bell peppers, garlic, celery, carrots and other veggies. These are commonly referred to in the negative calorie diet, and for good reason since these are the negative calorie vegetables.

But while people are obsessed with particular vegetables for their negative caloric values, let's not overlook fruits. Negative foods have a large number of fruits included, many of which can be surprising to people, such as pineapple have negative calories. Pineapple, strawberries, blueberries, kiwi, oranges, and apples have negative calories, among many others. These types of negative calorie fruits can really help to jump start your low calorie diet.

"Zero calorie diets," another fancy name for negative calorie foods diet, are based on negative calorie veggies and negitive calorie fruit, as well. This combination of foods, when used properly as a supplemental (not main) diet, is what allows the negative calorie foods diet so effective.

When dieting, sometimes a diet gets a bad reputation for reasons that aren't entirely fair. The negative calorie foods diet has been linked before with anorexia, but this diet doesn't encourage anorexia. It encourages a diet that is heavy in these foods IN ADDITION TO a normal diet of lean meats, fruits and veggies not on the negative calorie list, and healthy carbs. This diet is not meant to be the end all be all of foods you're allowed to eat (or not).

Negative foods are a great way to jump start the diet. Replace the snickers bar with an apple. Replace a microwave burrito with a couple oranges. A cupcake with some carrot slices or other veggies. The little things can make a big difference, and even something like replacing potatoes with more diet friendly foods with negative calories can make all the difference.
